About Chris Ashmore

Chris Ashmore

Hello and thank you for coming. My journey in the world of audio production began in1998. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Media Studies) at Swinburne University in Melbourne, I began working as a production assistant, soon as a producer, with Business Essentials, founded by renowned journalist and former host of Nine’s A Current Affair and ABC’s Breakfast show on Melbourne Radio, Michael Schildberger.

Business Essentials was the world’s longest-running monthly subscription-based audio magazine. In those days, it was available on audio cassette and CD. I produced similar business programs, including Business Essentials for Australia Post, Business Essentials UK edition, and Business Essentials US edition.

In late 2001, shortly after the World Trade Centre attacks in New York, I worked briefly as a roving reporter and assistant to Neil Mitchell’s 3AW talk-back morning radio program, Melbourne’s number 1 radio show.

In 2002, I moved to Tokyo, Japan, where I immersed himself in the local language and the world of business. I became a partner at executive search firm, Optia Partners, and leader of the professional services team. I recruited lawyers for multinational companies, and was a leading in-house, non-finance legal recruiter for the Japanese and East Asian markets.

It was in Tokyo where I met the love of my life. We married in Marysville, Victoria, in 2008, and in 2015 we made the move to Australia with our young daughter.

I returned to Business Essentials – now known as SoundCartel – as senior producer, at a time when podcasting started to take off.

At SoundCartel, I produced podcasts for some leading Aussie brands and entities, including Officeworks, Melbourne Food and Wine, Bristol Myers Squibb, APM, Olive Wellness Institute, the Australian Government, , and many more.

Today, I’m Creative Director of Chris Ashmore Media, helping entrepreneurs, member associations, governments, and businesses of all stripes connect with their audience with the power of podcasting.

As a member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, I am a podcast judge of the prestigious The Webby Awards.

Phew! Thanks for coming this far.

Today, I’m busy helping business coaches, thought leaders, associations, government agencies, and other brands to produce high-quality podcasts.

And now, audiobooks.

Phew.

Thanks for coming this far.
